Preparing students for high-wage careers in Construction Trades, Business, and Drafting & Design Technology while creating college and career-ready learners.

A. Phillip Randolph Technical High School is a Construction Trades Career and Technical Education (CTE) school for students interested in a career in construction and building trades. Randolph’s courses give students hands-on experience five days a week to provide strong fundamental skills in six Construction Trades programs.

Students learn how to use hand tools and power equipment, industry-standard safety practices, blueprint reading and other valuable skills, supported by integrated reading and math resources.

WHY CONSTRUCTION TRADES?

An In-Demand Career Path. Carpenters, electricians, plumbers and other tradespeople are highly skilled and in-demand. These dedicated men and women are actively involved with revitalizing the city of Detroit, from constructing new buildings to creating new roads and bridges.

Working in construction, you can start off earning $12 to $18 an hour. Once you gain more experience or become a journeyman, you can earn over $30 an hour. Many people in this field also go on to start their own businesses
